About this reflection

Dance@saintpeters presents Roberto Lara (Albrecht) and Min-Tzu Li (Giselle) in the Grand Pas de Deux from Giselle Act II with choreography after J. Coralli, J. Perrot & M. Petip and Music by Adolphe Adam.

The ballet is about a peasant girl named Giselle who dies of a broken heart after discovering her lover, Albrecht, is betrothed to another. The Wilis, a group of supernatural spirits who dance men to death, summon Giselle from her grave. They target Albrecht for death as he comes to visit Giselle’s tomb, but breaking through feelings of hatred and vengeance Giselle’s love saves him, by dancing with him, from certain demise.
