Appointed texts

The ecumenical Revised Common Lectionary appoints texts for liturgies in a three year cycle (Years A, B and C). As a commitment to Christian unity, Saint Peter’s follows this cycle.

The texts for Mary, Mother of God are:

Isaiah 61:7–11
Psalm 34:1–9
Galatians 4:4–7
Saint Luke 1:46–55

The use of Mary, Mother of God (other naming includes Mary, Mother of our Lord) is in the spirit of ecumenism, following the Greek naming of Mary as Theotokos, bearer of God.
