Appointed texts

The ecumenical Revised Common Lectionary appoints texts for liturgies in a three year cycle (Years A, B and C). As a commitment to Christian unity, Saint Peter’s follows this cycle.

The texts for Third Sunday in Lent, Year B are:

Exodus 17:1–7
Psalm 95
Romans 5:1–11
Saint John 4:5–42

At the 11:00 a.m. mass, Charles Ives’ “Violin Sonata No. 2” will be performed by Sharon Gunderson, violin and Thomas Schmidt, piano. Saint Peter’s Choir will sing Rachmaninoff’s “Svete Tihiy” (from the Vespers).
