Jazz Vespers
Cindy Scott and Brian Seeger
July 30, 2017
5:00 P.M.

From New Orleans, vocalist Cindy Scott and guitarist Brian Seeger have been cultivating their magical musical connection for over eight years now. In that time, they have wowed audiences around the world, including recent concerts in Morocco, Kazakhstan, Turkey, and across the US and Europe. Although they both have serious jazz credentials (the list of which is way too long to recount here, please visit their websites!), their performances and songwriting embrace the sounds of the Great American Songbook, the music of New Orleans, Southern Soul, and Americana. In Fall 2016, Cindy began a full-time professorship in the Voice Department at the prestigious Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Brian has been a music professor at the University of New Orleans for many years. The duo continues to tour together as often as possible. Expect a wonderfully musical and personal journey which deftly carries their audience along with them.

Each Sunday at 5:00 P.M. an open community gathers for prayer and reflection on the lines of jazz.
The community is diverse and includes people who live near and far, native and new New Yorkers, and people visiting New York City. Oftentimes churches will bring groups from their home congregations. Others are not Christians or are exploring Christianity for the first time in this supportive environment. Musicians from New York and throughout the world come to play.
You do not need a ticket or reservation of any kind to attend a liturgy at Saint Peter's Church. As at every other liturgy of Saint Peter’s Church, everyone is welcome.
