The peace of Christ be with you.

This time in the church calendar is interesting. The trees and decorations have come down, the angels, the shepherds and the magi have come and gone, the creche and star are back in storage. Jesus has been born, named, baptized and presented in the temple, and now we prepare to start our next journey toward Lent and Ash Wednesday, the cross and the joy of Easter.

Our parish community is in a time of preparation. This past year we and the people of Sion voted overwhelmingly to affirm our intention to merge. We also began our "One Transition" strategy to call a pastor near the time of our Senior Pastor's retirement. These are both exciting and formative decisions we made together as we seek to answer the Spirit's call to be a public mission-driven church.

A recently formed Transition Task Force has begun the preparatory work for the next chapter in the life of Saint Peter's, and we'd like to hear from you. The link below will take you to a series
of questions prompting you to reflect on our life together and what you might see God calling us to in the future. This is an opportunity to lift up our strengths, express any concerns, and dream new dreams at this special time about this special place.

The survey will be live until February 18th. Your responses will be collected anonymously. We hope you will be as open and honest as possible.

I have found this prayer useful in times of transition in my own life, and commend it to us to pray together as a parish community.

O God, you have called your servants to ventures of which we cannot see the ending, by paths as yet untrodden, through perils unknown. Give us faith to go out with good courage, not knowing where we go, but only that your hand is leading us and your love supporting us; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

In Christ,
Christopher Vergara
