Sanctuary In Action

On Sunday, July 14, members of Saint Peter’s Church and Central Synagogue volunteered in shifts throughout the day to monitor the entrances of Saint Peter’s Church. Volunteers had examples of court-signed warrants and so-called “ICE warrants" in the event ICE agents attempted to enter the building. Volunteers distributed to members of the Saint Peter’s/Sion community information about constitution-protected rights for immigrants as well as information on how to provide accompaniment.

Saint Peter’s Church is a Sanctuary member congregation of the New Sanctuary Coalition. See their website for information about how to get involved: https://www.newsanctuarynyc.org/

This was Pastor Jared R. Stahler's sermon on this day, about the parable of the Good Samaritan.

The question, "Who is my neighbor?," must take in both the geopolitical and the religious. In this sermon from July 14, Pastor Jared R. Stahler unpacks the parable of the Good Samaritan in the context of 2019 America.
