Saint Peter's Prays for Victims of Gun Violence

Our hearts are especially heavy this day with the news of back-to-back shootings in less than 24 hours. We are distressed by the gun deaths plaguing our nation. We are distraught that we live in a country where so many of the underlying reasons for these deaths go unaddressed. We grieve for the victims and families of victims in Baton Rouge, Des Moines, Half Moon Bay, Oakland and Yakima. We pray for an end to this epidemic.

Together, we pray, let the light of the City of Peace shine on this land, O God. Bring an end to the gun violence that infects us. Raise up leaders who will place human life above profit or politics. Give rest to those who are dead. Comfort those who mourn. Inspire the broken-hearted to action. Heal and hear us as we pray. Amen.
