Special Funds

Special Funds have been approved by the Parish Council and Finance Committee with designations to support particular programs and initiatives at Saint Peter’s. Established to honor and memorialize members of the community, your gifts to these established funds help to provide an enduring legacy.

Gifts to the Fund are acknowledged by letter and are tax deductible in accordance with IRS regulations. Please contact giving@saintpeters.org with questions about gifts or inquiries on establishing a fund.

Philip Lange Memorial Fund

A fund established in 1990 by Philip Lange’s family that is used to offset special music on the Feast of the Transfiguration (the Sunday before Ash Wednesday), the annual observance of Philip’s baptism.

Katherine and Harry Busch Memorial Fund

Established in 1997, this fund is in memory of Katherine and Harry Busch, supporting music for the All Saint’s mass and a distinguished guest preacher for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity.

Mary and Harry Backstrom Memorial Fund

Established in memory of Mary and Harry Backstrom, this fund is meant to offset the expense of special music for the early evening liturgy on Christmas Eve.

John Garcia Gensel Memorial Fund

This fund is In memory of Saint Peter’s former associate pastor, Rev. John Garcia Gensel (1917-1998), the Shepherd of the Night Flock, and supports the Jazz Ministry, particularly to pay the salary and benefits of a Pastor to the Jazz Community.

Thomas E. Schmidt Legacy Fund

Established in 2014 to honor Dr. Thomas E. Schmidt, Cantor at Saint Peter’s Church from 1991-2015, and to provide funds for Saint Peter’s Church which shall be used to commission the composition of new musical works to be performed at the church.

Music Fund

The purpose of this fund is to support the general music program of Saint Peter’s Church. This may include additional professional singers and musicians for special occasions, musical recordings, instrument rental and transport, and the purchase or rental of sheet music.

Organ Maintenance Fund

Established in 1990 in memory of T. Gordon Jones, beloved Director of Music at Saint Peter’s for 32 years. This fund is specifically dedicated to the maintenance of the organ.

Casey Kizziah Memorial Fund

Started with an initial gift from the family of Casey Kizziah, this fund receives contributions from plate offerings at the Good Friday Liturgy each year. The fund is in honor of Casey Kizziah (1953-1993), an actor who participated in the dramatic presentation of the Good Friday Liturgy. This fund is to pay for expenses and stipends for a director and actors as needed for this dramatic presentation.

Education Fund

Given to honor the memory of Stephen Wolfe, this fund is meant to support the education program at Saint Peter’s Church. Uses may include purchasing educational or reference materials, supporting the website, and various expenses of Sunday school, confirmation classes, adult forums, and retreats. 

Vignelli Design Fund

Established in 2012 in honor of Lella and Massimo Vignelli, this fund is dedicated to upholding the integrity and vitality of the Vignelli design for Saint Peter’s and to further the application of Vignelli design principles.
