Join us for the 6:30 p.m. Mass broadcast from home. You may wish to prepare by setting a place to mark this time with a cloth, a candle, a cross or icon. Also prepare a prayer for peace, in words or images, on a card to place before you.
In Holy Week we journey with Jesus from triumphal entry into Jerusalem to the events of Jesus’ passion, death and resurrection. It is a week Christians mark with special reverence, often with personal introspection and contemplation.
The community gathers each day. On Monday with special intention for healing. On Tuesday with special intention for personal confession. On Wednesday with special intention for peace.
About Holy Wednesday
Saint John writes that while sharing a meal with his disciples, Jesus knew of his betrayal by Judas. And still, he shared a meal with him. Oftentimes -- especially in the most complex of situations -- peace is not arrived at easily. It requires the speaking of truth. The naming of injustice. The desire for change. Even as he was being betrayed, Jesus prayed for and acted for peace to the glory of God:
“When [Judas] had gone out [to betray Jesus], Jesus said, “Now the Son of Man has been glorified, and God has been glorified in him. If God has been glorified in him, God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once.”
-- Saint John 13:31-32
