Mass: Sunday of the Passion and Procession with Palms

palm-passion-sunday.jpg

Language: English

Join us for the 11:00 a.m. Mass broadcast from home. You may wish to prepare by setting a place to mark this time with a cloth, a candle, a cross or icon. Have something to wave, much as we would do if we were gathered in person.

About the Sunday of the Passion

On the Sunday of the Passion, Jesus enters Jerusalem surrounded by crowds with palm branches in hand:

Then those who went ahead and those who followed were shouting,
“Hosanna!
Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Blessed is the coming kingdom of our ancestor David!
Hosanna in the highest heaven!”
-- Saint Mark 11:8-10

Christians often celebrate this day with processions, with everyone singing and waving palms. Though physically distanced, we still gather -- creatively remaking the traditions of this day.

Note: Looking for a family-friendly opportunity to make palms? Check out our Making Palms activity on Saturday, March 27 at 1:30PM.
