About Easter Sunday
Easter Sunday we celebrate with joy the mystery of Christ’s resurrection. In Saint Mark’s gospel, when Mary Magdalene and Mary, the mother of James and Salome come to anoint Jesus’ body with herbs, they are surprised that the stone closing his tomb has been rolled away. Inside they find only a young man whose words invoke awe and amazement:
“Do not be alarmed; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has been raised; he is not here. Look, there is the place they laid him. But go, tell his disciples and Peter that he is going ahead of you to Galilee; there you will see him, just as he told you.”
--Saint Mark, 16:6-7
