Join us for the 6:30 p.m. bilingual Solemn Mass of the Lord’s Supper with the Rite of Reconciliation broadcast from home. You may wish to prepare by setting a place to mark this time with a cloth, a candle, a cross or icon. Also, you may place a small linen before you, as a sign of service much as Jesus served his disciples as he washed their feet.
About the Three Days: Holy Thursday
The Three Days (Triduum, in latin) is the church’s singular liturgy of God’s gift of new life in the passion, death, burial and resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ. Holy Thursday’s Rite of Reconciliation and Solemn Mass of the Lord’s Supper leads to Good Friday’s Liturgy of the Cross and then to the celebration of the resurrection at The Great Vigil of Easter.
As Jesus prepares to be separated from his disciples, he prays that they will be united and offers a sign of service and profound love to them. On Holy Thursday Christians engage in acts of service and reconciliation: forgiveness, washing of feet and sharing in the last supper. In Saint John’s Gospel, Jesus reflects on the meaning of all this:
“I give you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
